Greetings!

Hi! Thallian invited me to post on his blog. I'm an artist, and an RPG fanatic. We've been discussing plans to collaborate in a game of our own. Our current endeavor is for him to figure out how to implement 3D assets for use in a game.

Since we've been talking about this for a year already, I don't expect this will come about over night, so at this point, you can just enjoy us rambling about how cool it would be, and since I love designing games and creating artwork for them, you should be able to see some artwork here shortly. I already have a few characters created, and a basic plot, as well as some interesting gameplay mechanics.

Welcome 'Anton' :D Anton is a good friend of mine and an awesome artist, he did the little image I use for my pic and he did all the non stolen, err borrowed art I used for my last game except the title screen, and that was a another friend. I can alter art and create a little but its best if Anton does it. He also has a penchant for coming up with super good ideas so I thought we should blog together.

Heya. I found your blog through Keens site.

This sounds neat. What sort of platform are you going to use? Java style game or something else?

Well I personally don't like Java even(especially) though I work with it every day. I think its slow. And ugly. But it is scalable with beans and multi tiered architecture and I know how to use it so those are pluses. But what I wanted to do is figure out the front end stuff first anyways. I am researching XNA, Torque, Quake and other engines trying to find a good one. I have bought a ton of books on network game programming and stuff but I'd like to use a prebuilt engine even though I am capable of using up tons of my time and writing my own. We may have to use Java, and mySQL since thats mostly free but did you have any recommendations? I am willing to shell out some money for this but not 1000's of dollars. Definitely want to use TCIP unlike Lotro which uses UDP. (If you ever wonder why WOW runs better in an apartment complex thats why) I'll get Anton on here to describe the game better, after all that's where the more juicy details are for the non-technical people.
