Spore Release coming up!

I just noticed Spore is coming out in a week or something.

I've been really interested in trying this game online, I noted a disappointing factor in the product description on Amazon:

"While Spore is a single player game, your creations and other players’ creations are automatically shared between your galaxy and theirs, providing a limitless number of worlds to explore and play within. Internet Connection Required."

I have the full version creature creator because it's so fun to make creatures, but now I see that when you "play online" you're really just submitting your creations and downloading other peoples' creations from a network.

Bottom line: no player interaction. Is anybody okay with this? It pretty much drops my interest in playing it completely.

I don't quite know how but I was beginning to believe that Spore was a completely multiplayer game, and now it has turned out very different. I was hoping you could make a massive army of mutants and then hook up online to battle it out on a distant planet. While the creature creator is quite cool, now that there really isn't any mutliplayer Spore doesn't interest me a whole lot. :(

SAME HERE! I went to go check out and confirm and sadly it seems to be true.. How they think this is a good idea is beyond me. Same Way Nintendo thinks they were doing a good thing before they fixed it with mario kart.

That's funny because I always assumed Spore was single player. The game looked very different to all the other god sims out there. Looks like a lot of fun. I'll probably buy it later on when it's on special and I'm bored of playing WAR ;)

You never know, they might add a multi-player expansion pack later on.

Aye, it's always been marketed as a single-player god game.

It's very highly recommended from me, and a few other bloggers around here. Check it out, Thallian. If you like creating things and playing simulation games, you'll likely love it. The Civ Stage and Space Stage are by far the most fun gameplay wise, but the other stages are worthwhile simply because you watch your creatures evolve at a physical level with you giving the direction.

I enjoyed the creature creator and I'll take your advice that its a great single player game. Maybe one day when its in the amazon bargain bin I'll feel its worth checking it out. :) (one year) thanks for the tip Bildo

p.s. my dollars are reserved for WAR right now.
